My Aunt is the Queen of shoes and that is the only way she is similar to Imelda. My Aunt is like a style icon to me. I don't think I've ever told her that but even before I knew we shared a common love of shoes I always loved her style.
When I first started my shoe collection, although I didn't realize I was starting a shoe collection, my mom would always say to me, you are just like your aunt with all these shoes. As a teenage I had no clue what that meant and I would often shrug it off. Until one day I said to my mother, What do you mean? She explained that my aunt had a room - from floor to literal ceiling - full of shoes. A story which my uncles and my aunt confirmed.
Unlike the real Imelda Marcos, she actually worked hard and paid for every. single. pair.
As have I.
Last week I showed you my closet, so its good to know that its in the genes. Lol.
