#Wednesday Wisdom - Look Beyond the Imperfection

I hate looking stupid. Lol. 

So I try to plan out things as much as possible. Does it always work? 

NOPE

The fact that I’m not perfect shouldn’t steal my joy. We all have those days where we think everything is perfect. Our outfit is on trend, our shoes are to die for and our accessories are rocking. We are killin’ it. Until we realize we have lipstick on our teeth. 🤦🏾‍♀️

I remember one day on my way into the city I’m on the train like a boss. My shoes are bomb. Everything is on point and I’m just waiting to get off at my stop. Stop comes. I’m confident. I’m a New Yorker. I got this. Get to the stairs to exit the train station and...

I fall up the stairs!

Now I should have been mortified. Everyone just saw me do this and while some will be sympathetic most will be annoyed because this is New York and everyone is in a rush. In that moment of my imperfection I laughed.

I learned that day and many days after it that life isn’t perfect I’m not perfect and I will look stupid sometimes but that’s ok. Happiness isn’t in the perfection. Happiness is in the attitude you take in the imperfections. I could have let that moment kill my whole mojo. Instead I had a funny story to share with my sister. Because I still looked good. I was still a boss. And I wasn’t gonna let this blip ruin my whole day.

Look beyond the imperfections. Find joy and happiness in the little things. Especially during the holiday season. If the cookies get a little burned add extra icing. If your tree isn’t Christmas card worthy who cares there is one at your local mall that is. If the Christmas lamb is a little overdone it ok.

 Life goes on.

Don’t let your imperfect moments dictate your happiness.
