Happy April!
April is Prom Month on Shopaholics Closet and we kick it off with my favorite trends for 2019 that are a bit out of the box.
We have the usual suspects that we see year after year like ball gowns, Mermaid and Illusion mesh and the like. More on those later this month.
But I wanted to highlight some of those trends that might surprise.
So here are my
Top 3 Prom Trends to Jump On
that will make you stand out!
Velvet
This is one of those fabrics that feels amazing on and it was a big fabric for fall. This is, however, an unusual fabric for prom which is known for its satin, tulle, and crepe.

I was the girl who was terrified that someone would be my prom dress twin so this would be a pick I'd make. In the one pictured it offers a classic silhouette while being comfortable and soft. Most would play it safe with the usual suspects whereas this is unique in its simplicity.
Green
Most prom dresses come in standard black, pinks, purples, blues, golds. Green is very rare. This season though is the season for green.
David's Bridal: Prom 2019 Trends
If you are looking for a suggestion on shade, go with emerald green. The jewel tone is absolutely fabulous. Especially if you are a red head. This color will pop and you'll be the talk of the prom. #gingersunite
Rose Gold
Metallics have always been a big deal during prom with gold and silver being the main attractions but Rose Gold is now the IT metallic and I'm here for it.

Tip: Make sure that you match your shoes to your dress here because rose gold is hard to pair with much else outside of pink.
