It's rare that I quote scripture here, I have another
blog for that, but this one is a little special.
I went to private Christian school and when I graduated 8th grade, right before starting public high school, my dad gave me this verse.
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 3:14
I have always been a driven person. I've never really understood why except that if I see a problem or am working on a project I work to its completion. It's also compulsive in a way. I can't stop myself otherwise it bothers me. That's probably why my degree is in Math and I'm an accountant.
Computations and solving problems. Lol.
However, I am also impatient. If something takes a while for me to solve I can get very frustrated. And I'll want to quit but, I can't. This used to bother me that I just couldn't let a project go, or stop thinking about that math problem I struggled with on my homework in college but when I think on this verse I realize that I shouldn't be.
This press to solve, this press to complete is why I have a degree, why I have a good job and refuse to settle for less and why I keep pushing for my life and my family's life to be better.
We all have goals and if we stopped pressing to reach them we are guaranteed not to. For me that's not an option. It may be a struggle, it may be frustrating, it may drive me a little batty because I can't see how I can possibly make it to the goal or make the numbers work but I have to keep pressing, persevering because in the end I will get there. Its a journey and its worth it. When I look into the little faces of my kids I know everything I do is worth it.
What are some of the goals/dreams you are thinking of letting go? Don't give up, keep pressing.
