I hate making mistakes. If there is ever a hint of a mistake I start feel a crazy amount of anxiety and this deep sense of self-preservation takes over. Because mistakes have consequences and we all mitigate risk consciously or unconsciously. But I have learned over time that many of my mistakes have been gifts in disguise.
The thing is,
"Many times what we perceive as an error or failure is actually a gift. And eventually we find that lessons learned from that discouraging experience prove to be of great worth."

I have learned so much more about myself - who I am and who I want and hope to be - from my mistakes and perceived failures than I have learned from my successes. And I think it's because success in and of itself does not illicit reflection where with mistakes that's all you do.
Where did I go wrong? How can I fix this?
And many other questions are asked over and over again when we mess up. And because they are asked you discover things you never would have otherwise.
Through my mistakes I have learned my faith is stronger than I originally thought. I can survive things I never thought I could and thought would break me. I am still smart in spite of my mistakes. And my mistakes don't define who I am and who I will be.
Don't dwell on your mistakes use them as a tool to learn from and then move forward. In the end those experiences will be of great worth to you and those who benefit from your experience.
