Welcome to Monday! Fresh week. New start. Lots to do, see and accomplish.
The last few days have been a blur of activity. Between cleaning my house, doing laundry, chasing the littles and watching runway shows I've been pretty busy.
Speaking of runway shows,
NYFW has been in full swing! Since the 4th, which was fashion week's ode to China, there has been show after show after show!
Today, as promised, I'm recapping my favorite shows we have seen so far. Are you ready? Let's go!
If you follow me on
Instagram you know the first show I saw that I was excited about was the
Elie Tahari show. It reminded me of being on African safari. Lots of tans and greens and leopard print ♥️. Then add in some polka dots. Good collection.
Next I watched Nicole Miller. Which paid homage to models of old. And those ladies were living it up on the runway. The collection featured lots of flowy dresses, floral, biker shorts and blazers, and mixed prints which I ordinarily don't like but Ms. Miller pulled it off.
Speaking of... Inclusivity was the name of the game. From the Chromat show to Pyer Moss, there were older women, women of color, mommy and me, mommies to be. Diversity was on display and in fashion and I am SO here for it.
Sleeper Alert: The
Deveaux New York show was AMAZING! It featured a live band, beautiful float fabrics in blacks, whites and grays. The shades and breadth of age of the models and the celebratory atmosphere was a joy to watch. I would shop that entire collection.

Finally, I cannot talk NYFW and not head uptown to Harlem. The Annual Harlem Fashion Row Awards and Fashion Show were September 5th, and was a whos who of black fashion, from pioneers in the space like Dapper Dan, to Mikki Taylor the Editor-At-Large of Essence magazine to Ciara who was one of the honoree and killed it in a green striped suit by
Bishme Cromartie and cornrows. This event was pretty exclusive so I didn't get to watch it ☹️ but if you want more info about the show check out this article on Essence:

I also watched Rebecca Minkoff (it was a two hour display) and Prabal Gurung which will be our spotlight shows of the week.
Which shows were your faves? Let me know in the comments!
Happy Shopping!
