Here are my top 3 tips to nail the fall suit trend
- Know your body type
This is crucial because every suit doesn’t look good on every body. I’m a pear shape, with a short torso and a bit of a pooch. High-waisted styles look best on me along with a fitted jacket or oversized jacket. Most body types look good in mid-rise pants and a fitted jacket. Don’t just go for trend, go with what looks good on you.
Styling Tip: One thing most forget to take into account is ones height. Bad pant length can make even a perfect suit look sloppy. If you go to the ankle it’s ok because when paired with heels it’s a fit. However don’t go too long. Dragging pants aren’t attractive. A good tailor will fix any issues with the height. - Know your cuts
Tapered. Fitted. Ankle Length. Straight Leg. Double breasted. Oversized. There will be be lots of options. The key is fit. Size up if necessary. You can always take it in later. - Know your fabrics
Some fabrics are more forgiving than others. I err on the side of stretch. I need fabric that moves because I’m no longer a size two. I was in high school but that was many moons and two babies ago. Make sure you find the right balance of movement and structure that makes you the most comfortable. Also know your patterns. Pinstripes and stripes in general don’t look good on everyone. So keep that in mind.
