On the 7th Day of Blogmas my true love gave to me the gift of sweet treats!
It has become a tradition for me to bake at Christmas. I have severe tree
nut allergies and guess what a lot of holiday cookies are made with? You
guessed it, TREE NUTS.
So just so that I could enjoy my favorite Christmas treats I had to make
them for myself. Well baking is a numbers game and I'm only one person so I
decided to share.
It started out that as a broke college student going to visit her godmother
I wanted to bring her a gift. Since I was making the cookies anyway why not
gift those?
I did, she loved them, and the tradition was born.
It has evolved significantly over time with me sharing and sending to
friends, my family of course and now my staff. I went from making 1-2 cookie
boxes a year to making 12! 😱😂
Usually I just make drop cookies but I bought holiday cookie cutters to try
this year so my son and my daughter could be more involved. Moreso my
daughter, my son is a frosting pro but we keep her away from the frosting at
all costs. Cookie making is already a messy business without her adding to
it.
So, Sunday we mixed and rolled out dough, cut out Christmas trees,
snowflakes, snow men, and stars and decorated them.

Once that was done, I got to the heart of the baking. This year's cookie
menu is: my traditional drop sugar cookies, sugar sprinkle cookie, Rice
Krispy treats, gingerbread, chocolate chip cookies, and snickerdoodles.
All delicious! My drop sugar cookies are covered in sprinkles and frosting.
My gingerbread got a healthy dusting of powdered sugar. My chocolate chip
cookies have a nice marshmallow surprise. And my snickerdoodles are light
and chewy and cinnamony.
I'm exhausted but ready for the last week before Christmas.
