I feel like you can say "Happy New Year" the entire month of January. lol.
Everything is still fresh and new. Dreams haven't yet been dashed yet. Hope
is still alive in the air.
And it becomes the running chuckle ice breaker, Happy New Year! Are people
still saying that? ðŸ¤
Happy New Year my fabulous Fashionistas!
My year has been off to a fast and busy start. My New Year's Eve was
anticlimactic. My sister wasn't feeling well and my kiddos fell asleep so we
all just went to bed. Lol
Then this week was back to the normal routine. That 6 am wake up call on
Monday was rough! I was getting used to staying in bed until 10 am during
the holiday break. lol.
But alas it was back to school, and back to work. Very much feeling the
weight of the grind. Even feeling a little behind.
I know!
The year just started but it's moving so fast. It was starting to feel overwhelming.
Every year I select a word that is the anthem for that year. This year's
word is refocus. Over the last few days, anytime a new challenge arose, refocus popped into my head.
to adapt or be changed again so that things can be seen clearly; to change
something again so that you can see things clearly
Oxford Learners Dictionary
I tend to focus on the negative and sit and think through and analyze all
the potential things that could go wrong. For my job, assessing financial
risk and developing strategy, it's great. But applying that to your personal
life is depressing.
Refocus for me is seeing my world through a new lens. Adapting and changing
my view, my filter. Instead of the glass half empty, it's half full. Instead
of seeing the bad, seeing the good that came from the bad. Instead of seeing
the challenge, seeing the opportunity.
In church on Sunday the guest pastor said, some fights look for you and some
fights you go looking for but running from battles is not an option because
they prepare you for future victories. It all about the lens you see the battle through.
So today if the year has seemly started out as a fight -- refocus your mind,
look for the opportunities and let it prepare you for your future victories.
