It's May! Can you believe it?!
And here at Shopaholic's Closet, May is all about weddings!
I have always loved weddings, especially the dresses, the look, the drama... This has to be one of my favorite months on the blog. As usual I'll be talking trends, sharing my favorite looks, sharing sustainability options and introducing you to some great brands.
So let's jump into the trends!
-----------
Velvet
This trend should sound familiar because I just talked about it last month for
Prom. And no I'm not saying to wear a velvet wedding dress, unless you want to of course. This trend is all in the decor. Think seating, table runners, table clothes, or even napkins.
If you do want this fabric in your wedding party fashion though, it could be a pocket square on your dashing groom or the fabric of choice for your bridesmaids dresses or even your shoes.
I love velvet because it just feels so good and it's warm. So its perfect for a fall/winter wedding (like mine was) or a winter themed wedding.
Minimalist
Usually in weddings opulence is the name of the game but this has been slowly creeping in season after season. Wedding dresses with no bling. Some call them structured but I just find something elegant in their understatedness.
Think Meghan Markle's wedding dress. The Sparkle is still in effect.
Geometry
Maybe it's because my degree is in math or the fact that I really love the Great Gatsby that I love this trend. Many of the dresses feature beautiful designs in geometric shaped patterns that hearten back almost a decade when Gatsby themed weddings and odes to the roaring 20s was extremely popular.
I even almost wore this type of gown (see pictured) when I got married but I got vetoed.
For a twist some dresses even feature geometric construction for those brides who are a little daring and less traditional.
What are some of your favorite wedding trends this season?
