The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no recipe for living
that suits all cases.
Carl Jung
I don't know about you but I am definitely guilty of believing that if you
follow a certain blueprint your life will turn out a certain way. Life doesn't quite work like that.
When you are young you don't take into account that you can only control
yourself and many of the plans you make require other people. That you can't
control. Lol
How different my life would be if my ex-husband had done all the things I
asked him to. Lol. The truth is, the shoes I tried to make him wear didn't
fit him, they pinched. And he didn't want to wear those shoes, I wanted him
to wear them.
So now I'm wearing this new "divorce shoe" and it pinches. But it's now part
of my life journey and I'm learning how to walk in these new shoes. I prefer
this than what I was wearing before.
In these new shoes there have been times of incredible joy and laughter and
happiness but also times of exhaustion and struggle. Just like an
exceptionally gorgeous pair of shoes with no arch support.
The life journey I'm walking may look like yours and then again it may not
and that's ok. It's not meant to. We all walk our own road.
The turn my life has taken wasn't part of the plan. I am definitely off
script and trying to figure it. It has highs and lows; joys and worries but
I'm learning that even if we followed the blueprint called, the perfect
life, your outcome would look different from mine.
Remember that your life journey is yours. You're gonna mess up but you'll
also triumph. It will be both rosy and rocky. But it can all amount to a
beautiful life, if that's what you want it to be.
I love shoes and if I want a pair bad enough I'll buy it in a smaller size.
The shoes will pinch but the beauty and the way they make me feel make the
pain worth it.
We make decisions every day and some will be pleasure and some will be pain
but there is no recipe for living and as long as you strive to live your
best life, in the end the beauty of that life will make the pain worth it.
