Happy Thursday! Can you believe that another week has flown by and my beloved March is almost over?
Well it’s raining today so it’s a good thing I’m talking about my favorite things to cheer me up.
Today’s favorite thing is
Chocolate!
Chocolate and caramel to be exact.
I have loved chocolate since I was a toddler and asked my mom for chocolate milk in my bottle. That is one of my earliest memories actually. Go figure.
My grandmother always had these thin chocolatety, caramely cookies in her house that I absolutely adored! Of course they are a Caribbean thing meaning not in the US and I don’t know what they are called because I was really little so I have no clue how to find them 🤷 #sad
And whenever we went to the store to get candy my dad got peppermints, my sister got skittles and I got a Twix.
Over the years I have found that the combo of chocolate and caramel is my favorite although to be honest I love most chocolate combos. Chocolate and peanut butter. Chocolate and nougat. Chocolate and pretzels, potato chips, popcorn. I mean, yeah.
The only downside to this obsession besides the cavities is that I have a severe nut allergy and what do people insist on putting in chocolate, NUTS!
So for that reason today’s post is about the brands of chocolate I love that I know are nut-free or barely have a trace. This was a hard lesson to learn but I suffer (with Benadryl and Epi Pens on deck) for the things I love.
Note: I joke about my allergies because I have so many and I’ve learned how to live with and manage them. But if you have a nut allergy (or any food allergy for that matter) like me that can lead to anaphylaxis please be careful and eat responsibly.
______________
They are the king of school candy fundraising sales. I would know, I sold them lol. These candy bars and their caramel whirls 😍 were the best part of private school lol. No JK, but seriously they are delicious. They do get made in a factory where nuts are, they have an almond bar, but not peanuts. Their bars without almonds have never given me a problem. When I was little they only had milk chocolate and almond. Now they have a caramel bar which, in hindsight, it's a good thing they didn’t have it back then because I wouldn’t have sold any. I would have ate them myself. Lol
This is like the third time I’ve talked about them on the blog because they are that good! I featured them for
Blogmas last year. They are completely nut free and made in small batches. The quality is off the charts. I bought them at a pop-up shop and I've been hooked ever since.
Those
Ghirardelli chocolate squares are addictive people. I mean I love this brand so much that I've bought the brownie mix, the hot chocolate and the chocolate chips. It's good chocolate. They are made in a factory where tree nuts are but I have NEVER had a reaction to their chocolate. Which means they have amazing quality control in their factories. Their milk chocolate caramel squares, dark chocolate caramel squares and sea salt caramel squares are stupid good! Yes I said stupid lol. So good it don't make sense. I’ve been eating them for years.
