It is September!
Can you believe its September? And that means fall is unofficially here. I mean technically summer isn't over until the 21st of this month but you need to be prepared for what's trending this season.

As always I've got you covered. Below I share my favorite trends for this season. We all know my fall staples and if you don't, follow me on the LTK shopping app where I'm share tons of fall staples, trends and transition pieces.
This list however is not closet staples but the trends that you weave into you wardrobe. And many of these may be sitting in the back of your closet (or your mom's, auntie's, godmother's closet) collecting dust that you can pull out, dust off and it will be fashionable again. I love stuff like that.
So now on to the list of my
Top 4 favorite 2020 fall trends
Now I sit on neither side of the fence on leather. Real or fake I love it all. Leather is always a trend in fall outerwear (moto jackets, trenches, etc) but this year it is a trend period. This is really a throwback to the 90s where leather on leather was super popular on TV, in movies and on the Red Carpet.
This season expect to see leather shirts, skirts, dresses, pants and a lot of leather on leather. This is in addition to the normal leather (faux leather) outerwear staples.
Puff Sleeves
Puff sleeves are usually a no-go for me because I am instantly transported back to the 80s and 90s with the shoulder pads and puff sleeve wedding dress trends that make me cringe. BUT, this season's puff sleeves are making me want to wear it. Its not as big and over the top as the reto version.
Expect to see it in sweaters, which has a more gathered look to it (like the image above) and in dresses which more often than not is paired with a ruffle.
Plaid Blazers
Plaid is my favorite print of the season! Especially houndstooth, herringbone and glen. Most people think of plaid like a flannel but that is not this fashionista's plaid. Blazers are a big fall transition piece so I'm thrilled to see it being paired with plaid right now.
Style Tip: Plaid makes a huge statement and more often than not mixing prints can be dangerous. Most people get it wrong. I sugget you pair a Plaid Blazer like the one above with a monchromatic look. All, black or all white, and let the Blazer shine. Jewelry and accessories aren't the only things that can be statement pieces.
Fringe
When I think of fringe I think of the 70s. Leather jackets with fringe on the sleeves. Leather bags with fringe on the bottom. And that is basically what is it, in a more modern way. 70s fringe was more hippy style and since hippy has been transformed into boho, there is an elevated air to fringe that I really like.
Expect to see it on jackets and bags like in the 70s but also on shoes, earrings and sweaters. Yes, sweaters. 😊
